Sandro Tonali

The president of Italian Serie B outfit Brescia, Massimo Cellino, has revealed that the club has not received any offers for highly-rated midfielder Sandro Tonalli.

Cellino made this known in a recent interview with popular Italian news outlet Tuttosport and went on to say that the club is not in a hurry to sell their prized asset.

He has been invited to the Italian national team squad despite the fact that he plays his football in the second-tier.

Sandro Tonali came through the Brescia Academy and he has been likened to Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo who’s also a Brescia Academy graduate.

Retired Italian national team midfielder Pirlo attained legendary status in Italian footballer after he played a major part in the squad that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament in Germany via penalties at the expense of finalists France.

Sandro Tonali, 18, has already been linked with Premier League sides like Manchester United and Chelsea due to series of impressive outings in the colours of Brescia in the new season.

Chelsea would allow defender Gary Cahill to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start as from the 1st of January according to various media reports.

The 32-year-old had earlier raised concerns about his lack of playing time under new manager Maurizio Sarri before adding that he could leave the club when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

According to the report from the Guardian, senior Blues officials have told the retired England international centre-back that he can leave the club in search of more first-team opportunities.

The former Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa defender has struggled to break into the first team in the new Premier League due to the preference for the centre-back partnership of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger.

Cahill has played for just 21 Premier League minutes this season though he has been able to make five appearances for the Blues in all competitions.

The majority of his outings for Chelsea this season came in the cup competitions (Europa League and Carabao Cup).

The Three Lions of England international defender has been linked with several English clubs such as Manchester United, West Ham United, Southampton, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa.

Why 2019 summer window will be uninteresting

Published

Liverpool fans

Emerging reports hint that the 2019 summer transfer window will not be interesting after it has been revealed that the window will be shorter than what it used to be.

This has been confirmed at Thursday’s shareholder’s meeting where all 20 Premier League teams were present.

The decision has been made unanimously by the clubs having complained that transfer activities usually unsettle players and cause distractions amongst clubs whose players are speculated to be having suitors.

However, it has been agreed that the next year’s summer transfer window will end on August 9 earlier than the already known deadline day of the last day in August.

It was reported that a total of 14 clubs voted in favour of the move which makes it the stand of the majority excluding Manchester United, Manchester City, Watford, Swansea City and Crystal Palace that were against the move.

However, suggestions are that the majority of clubs will be affected by this move in case they are unable to wrap up a wish deal within the short time frame.

Also, clubs who fail to meet the deadline day will have to wait until the winter window which usually reopens in January before they can complete a deal and that could go a long way in affecting their first half of the season.
