French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco are on the verge of securing the loan transfer of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgian international star will reunite with Monaco manager Thierry Henry at the Principality club.

Michy Batshuayi worked with Thierry Henry while he was the assistant manager to Roberto Martinez in the Belgian national team setup.

Henry and Batshuayi were part of the Belgium contingent that poster their best World Cup finish via a third finish at last summer’s edition in Russia.

Batshuayi, 25, had earlier joined Spanish La Liga giants Valencia on a season-long loan deal at the start of this season only for the loan to be terminated by the Los Che for non-performance some days ago.

Monaco are struggling in the bottom places on the French Ligue 1 table and Henry is targeting quality players including Michy Batshuayi in the fight to escape relegation at the end of the season.

The former Champions League finalists are willing to take the 25-year-old on loan until the end of the current season.

He would be the second player to join the club from former European champions Chelsea after Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas joined Monaco on Friday after penning a three-year deal.
