Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is ready to do anything in his bid to keep manager Rafael Benitez at the club beyond this summer.

Recent reports had claimed that the former Chelsea manager wants to leave the Magpies this summer after the club failed to back him with quality players.

Rafael Benitez was Chelsea’s manager for a brief spell in 2013.

The Spaniard led the Blues to the 2013 Europa League title.

Rafael Benitez was appointed the Newcastle United manager in 2016 but was unable to keep them in the Premier League having been made manager towards the end of the season.

The former Liverpool manager stayed on to help them secure promotion back to the Premier League at the start of last season.

In his first full season as the Newcastle United manager, Rafael Benitez led the Magpies to a commendable tenth place finish.

He had previously talked about the lack of financial backing on the part of senior club officials until Newcastle United broke their transfer record in January by signing Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron from Major League Soccer (MLS) club Atlanta United for £20m.

According to Goal, the Newcastle United owner is ready to break the transfer record again to keep Rafael Benitez at the club beyond this season.
