According to reports circulating in Turkey, German midfielder Mesut Ozil made it known he has received an offer to join Manchester United while he was negotiating with Fenerbahce.
Ozil’s will be out of contract at Arsenal by the end of the season, and Manchester United could get his signature for free next summer, as long as he won’t put pen on paper for a new deal at the Emirates before then.
And Turkish newspaper Sabah revealed that when Fenerbahce asked Mesut if he wants to join them next year, the talented midfielder told them he desires to stay in England to continue playing in the premier league, and has received a ‘serious proposal’ from Manchester United.
The Turkish news outlet also said the player believes Man United is his probable destination once he leaves Arsene Wenger’s side next year.
Ozil is understood to be interested in reuniting with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. The German worked under the Portuguese tactician for three seasons back then at Real Madrid, and has credited Jose for his ability to get the best out of him.
Manchester United have also been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann in recent times, but it is not yet certain if the France international will agree leaving the Spanish capital next year.
