Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has been ruled out of the game against Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A amidst the intense transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the club.
The ex-Inter captain will sit out the game on Sunday night with an alleged knee problem thus making it the fourth successive match that the Argentine international player will miss dating back to last month.
As a result of his recent struggles at Inter Milan, Mauro Icardi has been touted as a possible signing for major European sides like Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United and Chelsea.
He was a major transfer target for the Blues before they settled for his compatriot Gonzalo Higuain who has joined Chelsea loan from Italian champions Juventus for the rest of the season.
Mauro Icardi is presently in a contract standoff with Inter Milan and recent reports claim that was behind the decision to drop him as the Inter Milan captain in favour of Slovenian shot stopper Samir Handanovic though the Italians have denied those claims.
Inter Milan are ready to offer him €6.5m annually for his new contract but the player is holding out for €10m per annum.
His agent/wife Wanda Nara is yet to make a counteroffer to Inter Milan as regards his contract.
