Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has provided an unpleasant injury update on defender Eric Bailly.

The Portuguese tactician revealed that Eric Bailly could pass under the knife, and might be out of out action for the rest of this season

Eric has been sidelined since the 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge last month and hasn’t featured for Manchester United in their last eight games.

In his absence, the likes of Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling have been getting more playing time at the club, and manager Jose Mourinho recently hailed Smalling for his ‘amazing’ performances in the absence of the African player.

Speaking after the 1-0 win over the Cherries on Wednesday night in the premier league, Jose said surgery could not be ruled out for Bailly, suggesting the defender’s situation is a serious one.

Mourinho, who made it known his side have been treating the player with a conservative method, was unable to give assurances Eric would play again this season.

Manchester United beat Bournemouth 1-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night after losing 2-1 to Manchester City last weekend during the Manchester Derby.

Jose Mourinho will lead his men to West Brom this weekend for their next top flight duty, and he will hope Tottenham Hotspur will hinder Man City from earning all three points also.
