Premier League giant backed to sign Arsenal’s Box-to-box midfielder in January

Manchester United has been backed by their former Defender Ronny Johnsen to sign Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil in January.

The German is in the last year of his Arsenal deal and, as at press time, he has not extended his deal with the north London outfit. The attacker and Chilean Alexis Sanchez, who is in the same contract situation with Ozil, have not committed their respective futures to Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho has coached the German when the pair were at La Liga side Real Madrid. The midfielder impressed under the tactician’s tutelage and recent reports has it that the player wants to reunite with his former coach.

The former United defender heaped praise on Ozil after suggesting that a big club like Manchester United will always be looking to add quality players to their squad. He, however, stressed that he has no concrete information about United making an offer for Ozil in the New Year.

As per Manchester Evening News, United have not made an approach for Mesut Ozil, despite the attacker keen on making a switch from Arsenal to United in the New Year. Arsene Wenger, however, is still hopeful that the player will commit his future to the North London club.

The German who currently earns £154,000-weekly is also attracting suitors from the Turkish Super League and Italian Serie A.
