Undoubtedly, Chelsea has been hit by midfield crisis this season and manager Antonio Conte is preparing a massive move to bring in another top midfielder.
It’s widely thought that the former Juventus manager is a big fan of Atletico Madrid midfield maestro Saul Niguez and according to Spanish outlet Don Balon [via Star], the Italian tactician and Chelsea are set to pay a whopping £71million for Niguez next summer in order to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
The Spain international midfielder has scored once and provided one assist in all competitions under Argentine Diego Simeone.
Summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko has struggled with a knee injury since joining the club from French Champions Monaco back in the summer while Midfield maestro N’Golo Kante remains ruled out with a hamstring problem, leaving Chelsea light in the middle with Spaniard Cesc Fabregas the only fully fit option in that department.
The 22-year-old came through the rank at Real Madrid but left for city rivals Atletico Madrid back in 2008. In the summer, he penned a new nine-year contract with the side which will see him remain at the club until 2026.
He has a buy out clause of £134million included in his contract and Atletico Madrid remains hell-bent no one will meet that figure.
Don Balon, however, said Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has no intention of selling his main man.
