League leaders Manchester City could have their eye set on signing Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez after the side pulled out of the race for Arsenal Superstar and Chilean Alexis Sanchez.
This is as per the Manchester Evening News, who claim that the English Premier League runaway leaders have completely dropped out of the running to secure the signature of Alexis Sanchez and that the side could now make a move for Martinez.
The news source are also reporting that the 26-year-old defender would cost the team about £28million, and that they could make a transfer move for the exciting player after failing in their bid to sign Alexis Sanchez, as by signing both players, it would’ve meant that one of them would not have been able to be registered in the side’s UEFA Champions League squad.
Since coming through the ranks, Martinez has successfully sealed a place in Sociedad’s squad due to his consistent solid display.
During his playing time with the senior team, he has been able to play 238 matches, with the player netting 17 and making seven assists in that time.
The Spanish international, labeled as one of the most underrated defenders in the LA Liga would be a decent signing for the league leaders, as the centre-back position is one that the club is currently lacking depth.
