Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona over the potential transfer deal for Andre Gomes, according to reports.
The Portuguese midfielder joined Barca last summer from Valencia despite keen interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.
However, Gomes has failed to make an impact at the Camp Nou since then, just making 17 starts in the La Liga last season, 12 of which he was subbed off as the Catalan giants were beaten to the league title by Real Madrid.
Reports in reliable Spanish outlet AS claim that Manchester United have approached Barcelona about the possibility of signing Andre Gomes this summer but will have to beat Juventus to his signature, with reports that the Italian giants have also made their intentions known.
It is understood that the hierarchy at Barcelona are not happy with the performances of the player last season and wants to offload him this summer.
Andre Gomes’ agent, Jorge Mendes who happens to be Jose Mourinho’s representative has entered negotiations with the Catalan giants over a potential deal for the Portuguese.
Mourinho has made clear his intentions to add quality signings to his squad in a bid to bolster his side’s chances of bettering their displays in the Champions League and Premier League next season.
