Liverpool has made Naby Keita a top priority target this summer as they get prepared for a return back to the Champions League next season.

The Anfield club have received a boost in the transfer pursuit of the Keita after RB Leipzig confirmed the signing a potential replacement in the person of Konrad Laimer.

Liverpool have considered signing the Guinea international for much of this summer, with the midfielder’s performances in last season’s Bundesliga attracting lots of interest.

It is understood that RB Leipzig want as huge as £70million for Keita, but Jurgen Klopp is ready to offer around £50M for the player to smash the club’s transfer record once again.

And the German manager could now have some cause to be hopeful that the Bundesliga club will relax their stance on Keita, with Laimer’s arrival confirmed yesterday.

Laimer arrives from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, and has signed a four-year contract with Leipzig.

It remains to be seen if the 20-year-old’s arrival would prompt Keita’s exit. However, Keita himself has dropped the hint that he could leave anytime after he recently admitted his ambition to move on to bigger things in the near future.

Jurgen Klopp continues in his search for a top class central midfield signing this summer as he get set for a busy campaign next season.
