Premier League giants Liverpool are still keen on a move for highly-rated Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio according to various reports in the Spanish media.
The Reds were strongly interested in a transfer for him during the summer but nothing came out of it.
According to OK Diario, the five-time European champions are still trying to sign the Spanish international player despite the failed bid for him in the summer.
Liverpool were said to have failed in a £160m transfer for Asensio during this summer’s transfer window following Real Madrid’s decision to hold on to him.
The European champions didn’t want the 22-year-old to leave the club shortly after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese superstar swapped the Spanish La Liga giants for Italian champions Juventus in the summer.
He signed a four-year deal with the Old Lady and was given the no.7 jersey after the Italians agreed to a club record fee of around €100m for the 33-year-old.
Ronaldo had spent a hugely successful nine years at Real Madrid which saw him emerge as the Los Merengues’ record leading goalscorer.
Marco Asensio has failed to emulate his former teammate in what is becoming a disappointing season for him and Real Madrid.
The Spaniard has scored just two goals this season.
