Sports manufacturing giants Adidas will reportedly fund the transfer of Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez to Italian Serie A giants Napoli.

This is according to the publication from the stables of popular Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport which claimed that Adidas have shown interest in funding the loan transfer of their client (James Rodriguez) to Napoli if the player is interested in the move.

There would be an option for Napoli to sign him permanently at the end of the loan deal.

James Rodriguez spent the last two years on loan at German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich whom he signed for from 13-time European champions Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich were said to have paid £11m for his loan transfer with the option to make it permanent for £37m but the Bavarian giants decided against that option.

Colombian international star James Rodriguez scored seven goals and also weighed in with four assists in his 20 league appearances for Bayern Munich who won the German Bundesliga title for the seventh time in a row.

James Rodriguez is deemed to be surplus to requirements at Real Madrid with French football legend Zinedine Zidane in charge of the team.

Apart from Napoli, the Colombian playmaker has also been linked with the Premier League duo of Chelsea and Liverpool
