Ousmane Dembele’s proposed move to Anfield has been dominating the transfer part of the media. The youngster joined Barcelona for a mouthwatering fee of €105m from Borussia Dortmund two seasons ago but he is yet to reach his full potential with the Blaugranas.
Though injury hasn’t been friendly with Dembele, the Frenchman seems to be the architect of his problems at Camp Nou.
According to reports from the Spanish giants, the 21-year-old winger is one of the laziest players in the team. He reports late to training which shouldn’t be seen in a player who is just breaking into the limelight.
He recently failed to report to two training sessions prior to Barcelona’s 4-3 defeat to Real Betis last weekend.
His attitude hasn’t gone well with the Catalan manager Ernesto Valverde who eventually dropped the player out of his matchday squad.
Could Liverpool be the reason behind Dembele’s recent unruly behaviour?
It is believed that players become irresponsible whenever they desperately want a move out of their present club. They often result to missing training, picking up fight with Teammates and also going away from manager’s tactics so as to draw home their demands.
Could this be the case with Dembele and if yes, the player need to turn a new leave because klopp isn’t known as manager who tolerate indiscipline.
In 2016, the German manager showed his zero tolerance for indiscipline when he sent Mamadou Sahko out of the team’s pre-season tour after breaking rules and regulations.
According to Klopp in 2016, the defender came late for team meal and also failed to report for team treatment, hence, he had no other option but to send him out of the team.
This should sound as a warning to Dembele that he’s painting a bad image for himself and could turn out to prevent him from completing a move to Anfield.
Furthermore, Liverpool didn’t really look like a team who are in dire need of a striker or any attack-minded player.
Salah is in great form, Shaqiri is gradually finding his place in the team, Sadio Mane remains indispensable while Firmino is still relevant to the team, getting a new striker in January seems impossible and very unlikely.
Irrespective of the quality he possesses, Dembele would find himself useless in Barcelona anytime soon should he fail to change his attitude and become more responsible and determined.
He needs to stay cool-headed and learn more from Lionel Messi, who is arguably the best footballer of all time, and Luis Suarez who has proven his goalscoring prowess over and over again.
He has played just 28 matches over two seasons at Camp Nou, scoring seven goals. He must be more concerned about improving his overall performances, not about forcing a move to Liverpool or other interested clubs in January
