Champions League: Liverpool fans to travel an extra 160 miles to watch the game against Napoli
The UEFA Champions League for this season will commence soon, however, there might be a change of venue in the Liverpool match against Italian club, Napoli.
According to schedule, Liverpool are supposed to travel to Italy for the game against Napoli on October 3, which will be the first leg.
However, there seems to be a change of plan as new information from Italy have made it known that Napoli president, Aurellio De Laurentiis sought permission from UEFA to play the championship match away from Napoli stadium.
According to the Napoli president, he requested that the match be played at Bari instead which is 160 miles away from the initial location.
This comes after a recent situation arisen over an ongoing controversy of Napoli’s 60,000-seater San Paolo stadium, owned by the local council.
UEFA have previously complained about how poorly equipped the stadium is and Napoli in the past had stated they will work on it.
However, as it stands, nothing has been done on the stadium and Napoli doesn’t want to miss the opportunity of playing in the UEFA Champions League.
Aurelio De Laurentiis is the owner of Bari stadium.
