Liverpool have to fend off the challenge of fellow Premier League side West Ham United in their quest to sign one of the best Premier League midfielders of the last campaign.
Italian media portal Calciomercato claim that the Hammers have entered the race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to begin as from the 1st of January.
West Ham United can easily afford his £30,000 per week salary though it remains to be seen whether the East Londoners will be ready to offer as much as Liverpool for the 27-year-old German.
An earlier report from the Daily Mirror had revealed that the Reds are eyeing a £15m bid for the aforementioned Gross ahead of the January transfer window.
Pascal Gross had a sensational debut in English football last season following his move from German club Ingolstadt.
The Seagulls paid around £3m to secure his transfer last summer.
He went on to score seven goals and eight assists in 37 appearances for Brighton in all competitions in the last campaign.
Pascal Gross has been disturbed by several injury problems this season and that has restricted him to just one goal in nine appearances.
