Obviously, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is prepared to take advantage of the upcoming January transfer window to reinforce his squad by signing new superb players.

After securing the signature of Virgil van Dijk this week, there are reports he is pushing hard to sign another player in the person of Schalke’s Leon Goretzka.

Klopp paid Southampton a whopping £75 Million to make the Dutchman the most expensive defender of all time.

And while the German manager has been heavily criticised for splashing such huge fee on the former Celtic defender, Leon Goretzka would definitely come cheaper.

The German midfielder will be out of contract at Schalke next summer and is not showing signs he will extend his stay at the club by signing a new deal despite being offered a new lucrative contract.

The Bundesliga outfit are expected to sell him next month instead of losing him for nothing next summer.

The talented youngster can negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from Monday, and there are reports from BILD circulating in Germany that Jurgen Klopp’s side are at the forefront of getting his signature this January.

Leon’s impressive performances at Schalke have caught the attention of a handful of top clubs across Europe including Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Juventus and Manchester United.
