Igli Tare, Lazio director has confirmed that defender Stefan De Vrij will not pen a new deal with the side, meaning the in-demand star will leave the side on Bosman ruling in June.
Highly-rated
The 26-year-old defender has cemented himself as one of Italy’s finest defenders over the last few seasons, after his arrival at the club from Feyenoord back in 2014.
The hard-tackling Dutchman has proven vital in the impressive season enjoyed by the club to this point, having played from the start in 24 matches of the side’s 25 league matches.
Transfer away
Lazio’s recent attempts to keep De Vrij at the Stadio Olimpico have been unsuccessful, with the player’s current contract set to run out this summer.
As a result, a couple of Europe’s top sides are reported to be interested in a summer transfer for the Oranje international, with Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool all linked.
Divided opinion
And, in a major blow to the prospects of the striker moving forward, but a massive boost to the defender’s several suitors, the club’s director Igli Tare confirmed in a recent interview with that the side have opted to pull their new contract offer to the player, meaning he will leave the club for free this summer.
