Juventus now leading the race for Man United big target

Matthijs de Ligt

English Premier League outfit Man United seem to have lost their place in the front row for the signature of Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt in the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old has been courted by a number of European clubs in this summer transfer window and Man United alongside Barcelona were reported to be in the lead.

The Spanish outfit had stalled in the attempt to secure the signature of the star defendant for reasons that were not obvious which gave the Red Devils a chance to pick up the signature of the Star Player.

Unfortunately, the Red Devils cannot offer Matthijs de Ligt a Champions League football as they failed to end in the top 4 of the English Premier League.

This leaves the door open for Italian Serie A outfit Juventus as favourites to land the signature of the Holland defender.

Report claims that the Seria A side have already submitted a bid of 75 million euros which is likely to be accepted by the Ajax.

United will have to turn to other options in their bid to secure a quality defender that will help the team challenge for titles in the coming season as well as return to the Champions League.
