Barcelona defender Jordi Alba has thrown his weight behind the club’s rumoured interest in Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata ahead of the mid-season transfer window.
Alba and Morata are teammates with the Spanish national team.
According to the Spanish international left-back, Alvaro Morata is a top player and he won’t have any problem adapting to Barcelona if he were to make the move to the Nou Camp.
Jordi Alba spoke about Morata in an interview monitored by renowned English media outlet Daily Mirror.
Former Juventus star Morata has been heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona in the past few days.
Initial reports claimed that the 26-year-old was offered to Barcelona in a bid to escape his nightmare at current club Chelsea.
It has now been revealed that the Catalan giants are interested in a loan deal in January with the option to make it permanent in the summer amidst doubts over the long-term fitness of first choice striker Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan international player has been ruled out of action for two weeks with a knee injury.
Barcelona have no adequate backup for Suarez having already concluded the sale of Paco Alcacer to Borussia Dortmund.
Spanish forward Munir El-Haddadi has been disappointing when called up to deputise for Luis Suarez this season.
