As per reports in the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has realized that if summer signing Alvaro Morata is not fit to play, he really can’t rely on Belgian Michy Batshuayi to score goals.
The Italian tactician is reportedly prepared to sell the Belgian youngster in the January transfer window, but that would leave Alvaro Morata as the only recognised striker in the team – and to correct that defect, reports claim, he has asked Chelsea Chief’s to shell up the £65 million that former League Champions Leicester City would ask for their striker, Jamie Vardy.
Jamie Vardy was linked strongly with the Blues over the summer window, before the Alvaro Morata signing, and the Blues did look rather depleted up front when the Premier League season started so it is just natural that they would rekindle their interest in the England striker who looks like the kind of player that Antonio Conte and Chelsea fans love to have on their side.
Leicester City have gathered just 6 points from 8 matches, and are languishing in 18th position, and it has emerged today that manager Craig Shakespeare has been sacked by club hierarchy.
This would make a transfer seem easier for Vardy than it did last summer, and Leicester City – aware of the Blues dire need for goals and scorers – will be delighted to sell at the right price.
