Breaking! Agent Fails To Rule Out Chelsea Move For Top Serie A Defender

Kostas Manolas’s agent has refused to rule out a deal that will take the defender to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

Reliable reports have it that Chelsea alongside Arsenal and Inter Milan are interested in luring Roma center-back. Manolas has been heavily linked with a move out of the his current side with reports that Premier League sides are weighing up the idea of signing the center-back.

Last summer it was understood Roma fought hard to keep the tough defender.

However, his agent ioannis Evangelopoulos has admitted there is no pressure for the Greece international to leave the Serie A.

“There is a valid contract with Roma until 2019,” Evangelopoulos told Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“Kostas wants to play well in a Roma jersey.

“As for renewing his contract, at the moment I do not know. I can’t respond to that question.

“But I should say that he is happy in Rome.”

when asked if Chelsea have been in touch regarding Manolas’ availability, the agent added: “I’d rather not comment.”

His agent also revealed,Arsenal made a substantial bid for the impressive defender but was turned by Roma during the last summer transfer window.

He said: “Over the summer a proposal worth circa €40m was turned down from Arsenal for Kostas. Arsenal had already shown interest before, but then Roma’s demands were superior to the intentions of the English club.”

Reports now have it that Manchester United also see Manolas as possible alternative to Victor Lindelof whose move to Old Trafford hit the rocks.
