Italian Serie A giant Inter Milan have admitted they are interested in securing the services of Germany international midfielder Mesut Ozil.
After weeks of rumour that the Italian giant are keen on signing the Arsenal playmaker, Inter Milan club president Erick Thohir has confirmed the interest is luring the former Real Madrid star to the Serie A.
“He [Mesut Ozil] is surely one of those players we [Inter Milan] are looking at [scouting],” said club supremo Erick Thohir.
He added: “But the last winter January signings of German Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri proves January signings can disappoint and fail to live up to expectations.”
The Arsenal midfield maestro out of contract at the North London club in the summer and is reportedly permitted to negotiate a transfer to other foreign clubs about a January transfer away from North London.
Should the 28-year-old midfielder leave in the next transfer window, which is next year January, that would allow the Premier League club to recoup some of the £42.5million they spent on the former Bayern Munich star when he was signed from La Liga giant Real Madrid back in 2013.
Mesut Ozil has been heavily criticised for poor displays in important games, but could yet complete a move to Serie A where Inter Milan are currently third and unbeaten in the Italian league.
