Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who is now a pundit with popular TV outlet, Sky Sports, has praised Chelsea’s Brazilian born Spanish striker Diego Costa for his impressive performances adding that his sparkling form has made new club signing Michy Batshuayi a forgotten man.
Belgian striker Batshuayi made a £30m move from French side Olympique Marseille in the summer but has hardly had a look-in due to Diego Costa’s outstanding form.
Carragher was speaking during a Sky Sports’ Facebook Live Session. In his words, he said: “You look at Costa. He’s playing as well as any player in the Premier League at the moment, but they do have a £30 million striker on the bench. I haven’t really seen much of him, Batshuayi.”
“We haven’t seen enough of him. How good is he? We don’t know because Costa’s playing so well and he’s not getting injured. But if you spend £30 million on a back-up striker he must have something about him.” Carragher further added.
Diego Costa is presently the joint topscorer in the English Premier League (EPL) with 11 goals alongside Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in addition to 4 assists and 24 chances created for other club players thereby leading Antonio Conte’s men to the top of the table.
