Ferdinand Compares Ozil-Sanchez Partnership To That Of Gerrard And Torres

Former Manchester United, Leeds United, West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers man Rio Ferdinand, who is now a football pundit, has drawn comparison between the Alexis Sanchez-Mesut Ozil partnership at Arsenal to what was obtainable during the Rafael Benitez era at Liverpool when their former skipper Steven Gerrard formed a lethal partnership with Spanish striker Fernando Torres.

Ferdinand made this known on BT Sport as reported by The Mirror. He said: “Their partnership is getting better and stronger.”

They seem to love playing off each other and they create goals for each other – there’s no selfishness between them.

“How important is that, partnerships? You [points to Gerrard] played with Torres. When we used to play against you at Liverpool, you and Torres didn’t even have to look because you knew. Them partnerships are so important going forward.” he further added.

This is coming on the back of the crucial role both players (Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil) played during Tuesday night’s 4-1 demolition of Swiss champions FC Basel, a result that was enough to seal top spot for Arsenal in Group A as far as the UEFA Champions League (UCL) is concerned. The star duo have combined to scored 22 goals in all competitions for Arsenal this season in the club’s pursuit of silverware.
