As this season finally come to an end in the English premier league, one of the players expected to leave Chelsea during the summer transfer window is Spanish forward Diego Costa.
Despite starting this season impressively, Costa has struggled along the lines and in recent weeks, Michy Batshuayi has been preferred in Conte’s starting XI.
Some days back, it was speculated that Chelsea won’t mind selling him to a club that needs him, as long as they will be paid over £60M for the Spanish forward. It was added that the Italian manager is trying to get enough funds to splash on Everton forward Romelu Lukaku – whose club reportedly wants over £70m.
However, it appears the premier league champions do not need spend huge fee to sign Lukaku, but should look inward for an adequate replacement.
They’ve got a youngster Tammy Abraham who has been very impressive this campaign.
Tammy was superb for Championship side Bristol City and had been on the lips of many. He scored 23 league goals this term – which was more than Diego Costa could score this season.
Since Chelsea would be playing in the Champions League next season, it is necessary that Conte should have a quality experienced side. So, we won’t claim ignorance about the need to sign an experienced central forward.
However, instead of splashing so much on Lukaku, he can get a forward like Alvaro Morata for less, and support him with Tammy. Since Mourinho trusted Rashford at Man United, perhaps Conte should do same.
