FA Cup final: Man Utd set to axe star player ahead of Wembley showdown with Chelsea

Anthony Martial now seems very unlikely to play a role in Manchester United’s Emirates FA Cup final encounter against former Champions Chelsea later this month after angering manager Jose Mourinho with his poor display against Brighton.

Promising youngster

The France international attacker earned a rare Premier League start in Friday night’s encounter, though the Frenchman failed to take his rare chance as the Red Devils lost 1-0 to Brighton.

It’s been a tough campaign overall for Anthony Martial, who notwithstanding, making a good start to the season has continued to struggle heavily to hold down a regular shirt in the squad.

There are now several conflicting speculations over the players future at United, with RMC suggesting the former Chelsea boss is eager to keep Martial and is promising him an opportunity to play as number 9 more next campaign.

Jose set to axe star

However, the Daily Mirror, elsewhere claim Anthony Martial is not in the manager’s plans after failing to mature as expected and could be used in a swap transfer deal for Chelsea star Willian.

At the moment, at least, Martial, 22, looks to have cost himself a spot in Mourinho’s line up against Chelsea in the Emirates FA Cup final, as per the Daily Mail.
