Several English Championship sides are interested in a temporary move for young Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu when the transfer window reopens in January.
Ethan Ampadu has not featured at all under the new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri though he has been affected by injury since the Italian tactician took over in the summer.
Former Empoli and Napoli boss Sarri became the Blues manager in the summer after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
He was the replacement for former club manager Antonio Conte who was sacked from his post following an underwhelming season which saw Chelsea finish in the fifth position at the end of the season and also miss out on this season’s Champions League despite the 2018 FA Cup title triumph made possible by the 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester United in their final clash.
According to a report from Goal via Metro, Championship sides like Aston Villa and Derby County are keen on a loan move for Welsh international midfielder Ampadu.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is the Derby County manager, while another Blues legend John Terry is the assistant manager to Aston Villa boss Dean Smith.
The Blues are open to the idea of the 18-year-old going out on loan for the rest of the season.
His long-term future at the club is secured after he signed a new five-year deal until 2023 in September.
