Premier League Champions Chelsea have made public the completed transfer of defender Davide Zappacosta from Serie A side Torino in a reported transfer fee of £23million on deadline day.

The powerful serie A Italian defender emerged as a surprise transfer target for the Blues late on in this summer transfer window, with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte finally managing to secure the signature of another player as a deputy in the wing-back positions.

The defender has impressed with his Serie A side and with his national team, though is not the big name player many Chelsea supporters will have been asking for.

Still, Antonio Conte wont’t be very pleased as he has failed n an attempt to sign the likes of Alex Sandro, Candreva and Oxlade-Chamberlain, Antonio Conte turned to Zappacosta.

The Serie A club confirmed the move before Chelsea announced it officially, with Chelsea otherwise engaged as they also tried to sign Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater.

It was an annoying transfer deadline day for the Blues, who also failed in their bid to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, Spaniard Fernando Llorente to Spurs, and Everton’s Ross Barkley, who opted against a transfer to Stamford Bridge midway through his medical examination with the club.

The latest signing will be hoping to live up to expectation at Chelsea despite not being the key signing supporters have been demanding, same way Spaniard Marcos Alonso has managed since a low-key arrival from Serie A side Fiorentina last summer.
