Spanish champions Barcelona are reportedly having difficulties in their quest to get a deal over the line for Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt.
This is according to the publication from Spanish newspaper AS which claimed that Barcelona have reached a snag in the quest to sign the aforementioned De Ligt.
The Spanish champions are not the only ones interested in the Dutch international centre-back with clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool also keen on a transfer for him.
Liverpool legend and former Reds defender Jamie Carragher recently urged his former club to go all out to sign De Ligt who captained a youthful Ajax side to the Champions League semifinal before they were eliminated in surprising fashion by Tottenham Hotspur.
According to him, De Ligt would be the perfect partner for the impressive Virgil Van Dijk.
Matthijs De Ligt and Virgil Van Dijk have formed a centre back partnership with the Dutch national team and Carragher believes the same can be replicated at Liverpool but the Reds have to deal with Barcelona.
According to the aforementioned report from AS, the De Ligt transfer to Barcelona has been held up by the financial demands from his agent Mino Raiola who has a notoriety for being a tough customer in the transfer window.
