Well, there is absolutely no problem if you’ve not heard the name ‘VVV Venlo’ before now. But next season the Dutch club should be widely known as they look to achieve promotion to the Eredivisie.
Presently, VVV are 7 points clear at the top of the Netherlands’ second division- the Jupiler League. The club isn’t slowing their pace, and additionally, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf have reported that they are in the process of trying to sign an Arsenal player on loan.
It was said that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to decide today whether he will allow Gedion Zelalem leave Arsenal on loan for the Dutch club. If the boss should give his blessing, then De Telegraaf believe the deal could be done very quickly.
Zelalem made his Arsenal debut in January 2014 and a lot has been expected of the 19-year old. The U23 US international spent last season loan at Rangers where he’d already been the previous half a season.
It is agreeable that Arsene Wenger might not be an expert on VVV. Nevertheless, if Arsenal are going to loan a player to a second tier Dutch side, then it may as well be the club sitting on top of the table.
Transfermarkrt list Gedion Zelalem as having an Arsenal contract ending in June. If so, then coach Arsene Wenger may look for an extension before the loan, hence this could be a more permanent goodbye.
