According to Spanish media reports, North London giants Arsenal could be prepared to replace defender Nacho Monreal with a left-back from Real Betis.
Arsenal wants Betis defender
As per Plaza Deportivo, the Gunners are keen on triggering the €25m buyout clause in Junior Firpo’s contract at Real Betis.
The 21-year-old is a natural left-sided defensive player, but he can also play further up front and he played 14 LaLiga matches last term, netting two goals and providing two assists.
AS claim that Gunners scouts have been greatly impressed with the defender’s performances and Arsenal have shown their interest in signing the Dominican-born footballer.
Versatile player set for Premier League move
The Spanish side are aware of the transfer interest in the player, who is also able to also play at central defence, and they want him to pen a new deal.
Newly appointed Arsenal manager Unai Emery has already secured the signature of defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno for £19m to his team, while £16million Dortmund centre-half Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be unveiled next month.
The former Sevilla and PSG head coach has also tabled a bid for £26m-valued Lucas Torreira and £35million-rated star Caglar Soyuncu, while Argentina World cup star Ever Banega is also said to be a favourite of the new Gunners manager.
