Manchester United close to signing shot-stopper as an experienced deputy to Spaniard David De Gea.
Man United table offer for Grant
The Red Devils are prepared to make Lee Grant their third signing this summer in a surprise transfer move.
Grant, 35, is a free agent after his contract with relegated side Stoke City expired and Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho has made the move to add the safe hand to his team as deputy to Spain international goalkeeper David de Gea and Argentine Sergio Romero.
Grant, an ex-England U-21 international, has spent his last past two years with relegated Stoke City.
He played 30 matches in the 2016/17 season and was crowned the side’s Player of the Year.
But he featured in just a handful of games last term following the return of England international Jack Butland to full fitness after a long lay-off due to injury.
Man United keen on summer reinforcement
He is now prepared to swap the Championship side, who went down, for English Premier League outfit Manchester United, as per the Daily Telegraph.
Portugal U-21 shot-stopper Joel Pereira was back-up to David De Gea and Argentine safe hand Romero last term but the Portuguese is expected to be loaned out to gain further first-team experience.
