According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal in principle with French Ligue 1 side Monaco to sign £92 million rated star Thomas Lemar in the month of January with the forward set for a five-year deal worth £250,000-weekly.
The Frenchman was the transfer sagas of the summer as he was heavily linked with a transfer to the English Premier League after emerging as one of the best young talents in Europe.
The French international made 14 goals and provided 17 assists to help his team to the French Ligue 1 title last campaign and that impressive form attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
Arsenal were the early favourites but struggled to agree a fee with AS Monaco before L’Equipe claimed that the Reds had joined the pursuit after submitting a club-record £74 million bid for the striker’s signature.
The Gunners then launched a staggering deadline day transfer to try and gazump the Reds as the Express were one of many newspapers to claim that the Arsenal boss had submitted a £90m+ bid for Thomas Lemar as he desperately seeks for a potential replacement for Chilean Alexis Sanchez ahead of his proposed transfer to Man City.
A £92m contract would smash the Gunner’s transfer record, and it would be a big statement of intent from the Emirate Stadium if they could sign one of the brightest talents in European football.
