New Chelsea player gets National team call up

Davide Zappacosta

Chelsea’s new Italian Davide Zappacosta has been invited to his national team squad for their next qualifying match against Israel.

The right full back was a transfer deadline day signing for the Blues with a fee of about €25m, and he is keen to compete with Nigerian Victor Moses at right wing back.

The Italian has already been featured by his National team several times, with his first match coming under head coach Antonio Conte, but faces difficult competition with regular starters like Ignazio Abate and Milan new signing Andrea Conti.

All of this means the new Chelsea recruit is unlikely to play for the Italian National team, but being around the team will be good for a footballer who has already had a fantastic week joining the Premier League Champions, with a huge wage increase supposedly thrown in too.

Italy National team are second in their World cup group after a 3-0 loss against Spain National team.

Italy and AC Milan experienced defender Leonardo Bonucci will not feature for the Azuri’s after picking up a booking on Saturday during the loss to Spain, while his team mate Leonardo Spinazzola got injured at the Santiago Bernabeu and experienced Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini already ruled out of the fixture with a calf injury.
