Chelsea defender David Luiz was keen to stress to manager Antonio Conte that he is working pretty hard in training as the defender looks to return to the starting eleven.

Lost Position

The Brazilian international defender has lost his place at the west London outfit this term to put his FIFA World cup participation in major doubt.

Antonio Conte decided to go with Danish youngster Andreas Christensen for Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Premier League rivals Manchester United last year October and David Luiz has been unable to reclaim his spot.

Limited appearance

Indeed, the central defender was limited to playing in the UEFA Champions League in the last months of last year before he played the full 180 minutes of their Emirates FA Cup third round encounter against Norwich City.

Luiz, 30, made his first League appearance since last year October 28 when he came off the substitute bench for the last 32 minutes of the Blues’4-0 victory at Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

The South American posted a photo on social media with the caption on Instagram is perhaps a message to the Chelsea boss:

“Keep working!!!”

The former Paris Saint Germain defender returned to Stamford Bridge from France in a £32million deal back in the 2016 summer window.
