Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has refused to discuss whether the Etihad club will try to bring in Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez again – but his opinion of the forward has not really changed.
The Manchester club failed in a transfer deadline day move to bring the Chile international forward to the Etihad but rumour suggesting they may make another approach, as the 28-year-old’s contract runs out.
The issue has been thrown back into the limelight as Alexis Sanchez prepares to face Manchester City for the first time since the failed transfer as the Gunners visit the English Premier League runaway leaders on Sunday.
Yet while Pep Guardiola says he will look to reinforce his team again next summer, he will not be forced to discuss Sanchez in particular.
The Skye Blues are in good form. They are unbeaten in 16 matches this term and have won their last 14 matches in a club unbeaten record run. They have netted 49 goals this season and last lost back in April, when Arsenal knocked them out with an extra-time Alexis Sanchez winning goal in the English FA Cup semi-finals.
Their brilliant form has led to rumour they could go through the Premier League season unbeaten, a feat last achieved in the League by Arsenal’s 2003-04 season ‘Invincibles’.
Pep Guardiola says his team will not be able to equal the feat of that Arsene Wenger’s team.
