Club Chief Admits: Yes, We Are In Talks With Chelsea For This Deal

Baba Rahman

Christian Heidel, Schalke’s sporting director, has revealed that his side are currently discussing with Chelsea for the possibility of re-signing Baba Rahman on loan from the London club.

Rahman spent last season on loan at the Bundesliga club after he was not able to impress Antonio Conte during last year’s pre-season campaign.

He returned to the club after picking up an injury, and this ended his loan spell prematurely.

Although some thinks the Ghanaian defender is an ideal fit for Conte’s system at Stamford Bridge, the player does not appear to be in the manager’s plans. And while the African star continues his recovery, the premier league champions are still keen on bringing in a new wing-back before the end of this summer transfer window.

And if he isn’t needed at Stamford Bridge for the time being, German side Schalke needs him, and the club’s sporting director has confirmed that a move for the talented player will come down to when he is projected to return to full fitness.

Christian states that his side are in talks with Rahman himself, his agent and the Stamford Bridge club, but that no decision has been made yet.

Chelsea kicked-off the new premier league season with a disappointing defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
