Premier League Champions Chelsea has been told to sack whoever sold Serbian international midfielder Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United in the summer.

Former Red Devils defender Phil Neville feels the problems being experienced by the Blues stem from the exit of a top midfielder.

Phil Neville feels whoever opted to cash in on midfielder Nemanja Matic to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United should be booted out of Stamford Bridge after Conte’s men crashed to a 3-0 loss to Italian Serie A side AS Roma.

Chelsea was torn apart by the Serie A giant in the UEFA Champions League Group C match on Tuesday night as manager Antonio Conte cut an angry figure after the game.

Italy international forward Stephan El Shaarawy netted a first-half brace as the Italian side – who held the Blues to a sensational 3-3 draw at the Bridge two weeks ago – accounted for the English Premier League champions.

Chelsea’s League title defence has already resulted in three losses in 10 games, leaving the West Londoners fourth and nine points behind league leaders Manchester City, and former Manchester United star Phil Neville said the team’s problems stem from Nemanja Matic’s exit back in July.

The midfielder will reunite with Italian tactician Antonio Conte and his former team-mates when Jose Mourinho and Manchester United head to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
