Premier League duo of Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a new swoop for France youngster Thomas Lemar in January, but Premier League Champions Chelsea could now provide them with stiff competition.
The France international forward has struggled to repeat his form from last term, as after scoring 14 goals and making 17 assists in 55 matches last year, Lemar, 22, has managed to score a goal and made three assists in 15 matches so far this season.
The €100million valuation which the Gunners were believed to be ready to spend on the forward this past summer transfer window, as cited by French publication L’Equipe, is very unlikely to hold up in the New Year or next summer, and so that will attract more competition for his services.
It’s reported that Merseyside giant Liverpool also submitted a €90million offer of their own, and so the two clubs were ready to spend huge on Thomas Lemar as they both have fears of keeping the top players in their present team.
A lot has been said about Brazil international Philippe Coutinho’s future at Liverpool, while forward Alexis Sanchez and attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil will see their contracts at the North London club expire next summer.
Thomas Lemar could fill a void left by those Superstars, and L’Equipe expects both sides to reignite their interest in the youngster in the New Year.
