Premier League giants Chelsea are in a three-club fight for AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo according to widespread reports coming out of the Italian media.

Italian media portal La Gazzette dello Sport claim that the Blues are one of the three clubs keen on a move for the young midfielder who has impressed for AS Roma since his move to the capital at the start of this season.

The 19-year-old joined the Italian capital club as part of the deal that took Belgian international midfielder Radja Nainggolan from AS Roma to Inter Milan last summer.

Zaniolo was a makeweight used by Inter Milan to secure a big money move for Nainggolan.

The aforementioned report claim that the Blues will have to fight with two major European sides namely Italian Serie A champions Juventus and Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.

AS Roma want to tie the young midfielder to a long-term contract after what has been an impressive debut campaign for the Gialliarossi.

Nicolo Zaniolo has scored three goals in addition to two assists in 14 Italian Serie A games in this campaign.

Chelsea need to strengthen their midfield following the exit of Cesc Fabregas to French club AS Monaco and Zaniolo could be a potential replacement for him.
