Former European champions Chelsea will have to contend with the threat from London rivals Arsenal in the pursuit of AS Roma winger Cengiz Under.
This is according to the publication from the popular English news portal Guardian which claimed that the potential transfer could be around £54m.
Cengiz Under has become a key player for Italian Serie A giants AS Roma since he signed for the club from Turkish side Bursaspor during last summer’s transfer market.
He was an integral part of the Roma squad that reached the semifinals of last season’s Champions League before they were eliminated by Premier League side, Liverpool.
Cengiz Under is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects on the European football scene.
Chelsea will have to fend off the competition from Arsenal in the bid to sign the Turkish forward.
Earlier reports had revealed that the Gunners had a £29m bid rejected for the player.
Arsenal are in need of reinforcements in the forward positions in the wake of the injury to England international star Danny Welbeck.
The former Sunderland and Manchester United attacker has been ruled out for the rest of the season after he suffered a serious knee injury against Portuguese Super League giants Sporting Lisbon last month.
