Chelsea Emerged Favourites To Get Star Player’s Signature

Real Madrid talented youngster Marcos Llorente has become a hot prospect this summer after emerging as a target for a handful of top clubs across Europe.

And in a new development, there are reports (via the Daily Star) that premier league champions Chelsea are favourites to get the player’s signature as a replacement for Serbian star Nemanja Matic at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have welcomed four new players this summer – Willy Cabellero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata, but have also seen as much as nine players depart Stamford Bridge. And their Italian manager Antonio Conte has made it known that he wants more players in his squad before the transfer window closes next week.

Matic made a £40M move to Manchester United recently, leaving a void in Conte’s squad. The former Juventus manager only has the trio of N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko as his options in the center of the park – which is not enough, considering how busy this season will be.

And in an attempt of getting more squad depth in their team, young Llorente has come up as a target for the west London club.

The Spanish midfielder spent last season at Alaves where he made 38 appearances and provided three assists to his teammates. He helped Alaves survived relegation last term and he has come through the ranks at Madrid.

The summer transfer window is closing next Thursday and Chelsea will need to hasten things to beat the deadline.
