Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed his sadness at Willian’s strange absence from the club’s pre-season tour.

The Brazilian has not been seen anywhere near the rest of Chelsea squad during their preseason tour, fueling speculations that the winger could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

Willian, who was expected to link-up with the rest of the Blues squad on a tour, has missed five days from the preseason activities as he was not able to renew his passport.

The 29-year-old winger has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge, following reports of interest from La Liga giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, with the latter already having two bids rejected by Chelsea. Manchester United are also believed to be in the race due to Jose Mourinho’s long-term admiration of the winger’s abilities.

Speaking after the preseason friendly against Arsenal on Wednesday night, Sarri said he was not happy about Willian’s situation but he would rather speak with the player before making conclusions about his future.

Chelsea who has made only one major signing since the start of the summer window will hope Willian remains at Stamford Bridge for another season as they push for glory in the Premier League and Europa in their next campaign.
