Spain international midfielder Cesc Fabregas is now one of the quartet Spanish top goal scorers in the Champions League after he netted his 20th goal in the Europe’s elite club competition against Azerbaijan club Qarabag on Wednesday night.
Cesc Fabregas’s goal helped the reigning Premier League Champions win against Qarabag, 4-0 as they secured a place in the next round of the competition. Belgium international playmaker Eden Hazard and Brazilian international Willian were the other goalscorers in the match.
Cesc Fabregas’s spot-kick goal was his 20th in the UEFA Champions League across the clubs he has played for from North London giant Arsenal, La Liga side Barcelona and now Premier League Champions Chelsea.
As per Opta Joe on Social networking site Twitter, he joins Real Madrid legend Raul who has scored 71 goals, former Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes with 33 goals and Ex Chelsea forward Fernando Torres who also scored 20 times in the UEFA Champions League.
The 30-year old creative midfielder is now being played behind Antonio Conte’s new strikers in his new 3-5-2 set up. A decision that looks to be bringing the best out of the former Barcelona midfielder again after an inconsistent run of form at the start of the campaign.
