RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner has emerged as one of the top five strikers being considered as a possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.
European champions Real Madrid have struggled for goals since Ronaldo left for Italian Serie A champions Juventus last summer.
Portuguese superstar Ronaldo swapped Spain for Italy in search of a new challenge after the Old Lady agreed to a club-record deal of an initial transfer fee of €100m for him to become a Juventus player.
He went on to put pen to paper on a four-year deal until the end of the 2021/22 season and was subsequently handed the iconic jersey number seven at the Juventus Stadium.
Since his exit from Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2018, they have not been able to find the back of the net consistently and that has seen the European champions drop to fourth spot on the league table in comparison to finishing second only behind arch rivals Barcelona last season.
Real Madrid want to correct their goalscoring problems by signing a striker according to the Daily Mirror and they have drawn up a five-man shortlist which includes Timo Werner who has been heavily linked with a transfer to Premier League table toppers Liverpool.
He has been in sensational form for RB Leipzig netting eleven goals for the German club and that has not gone unnoticed with European heavyweights like Liverpool and Real Madrid.
