Cesc Fabregas has aimed a dig at Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata when talking about where this campaign has gone wrong for the club.
Fabregas point ‘finger’ at Morata
Although the midfielder didn’t name Alvaro Morata specifically, Cesc Fabregas praised France international Olivier Giroud since his winter arrival from London rivals Arsenal as he has improved the squad’s threat up front.
Given that the Spain international had been first choice before that time, it’s crystal clear the Spaniard feels his fellow National team colleague is to blame for failing to bury the team’s goal-scoring chances.
The former Arsenal midfielder believes that’s been the major problem for the blues this season as they’ve dropped from 1st to 5th on the log.
Costa’s loss affected Blues
Losing Spain international striker Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid has clearly been a major blow, with supporters and football analysts alike in no doubt that the former Juventus forward has heavily struggled to replicate that form up front.
Morata, 25, arrived with a lot of expectation when he joined from La Liga giants Real Madrid, but the forward has managed to score 15 goals in 45 matches across all competitions.
That’s, without doubt, a poor goal return and the forward has missed a couple of big goalscoring opportunities in matches that a forward for a top side really should not be missing.
