Adama Traore

Chelsea have started initial talks to sign Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore, according to reports.

The Blues are desperately in need on a pacey winger to act as cover for Victor Moses and Marco Alonso and have set sights on the 20-year-old who joined Boro last summer on a  £7million deal from Aston Villa.

Traore has been a key figure for Aitor Karanka’s side, making 16 appearances this season and has raised eyebrows of top clubs.

Prior reports had suggested that the Blues boss Antonio Conte was chasing West Ham’s Michail Antonio but has since shifted sights as the Hammers are not willing to let their star man leave in the January transfer window.

Reports in the Sky Sports have it that the Blues have started talks with Boro to sign the former Barca youngster and hopes to get him.

If he eventually joins Chelsea, Traore will be a good asset for Conte in the 3-4-3 formation due to his blistering pace.

In related news, Antonio Conte and Diego Costa have reached a truce over their disagreement about Costa’s fitness issues.

The pair were said to have had a meeting at the club’s training ground with suggestions that Costa and Conte has settled their rift.
