Bayern Munich are preparing a summer move for promising Werder Bremen forward Serge Gnabry, according to reports.
The German youngster left the Emirates last summer due to his lack of chances with Arsenal and moved to Werder Bremen at the back of an impressive summer with German U-23 team at the Rio Olympics in Brazil.
Ganbry has gone on to become a standout performer for Werder Bremen, scoring 10 goals in 21 appearances and has been touted by a number of clubs in Europe, with reports that his former side. Arsenal are also interested in a transfer but Bayern could thwart the Gunners’ move by triggering a rumoured first refusal on the German youngster.
Speaking about the possibility of a transfer for Gnabry, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: ‘We have sold him definitely to Werder Bremen. At the time it looked like Bayern Munich were behind it,
‘I don’t really know, but at the moment no, we do not re-sign him.’
However, Serge Gnabry has earlier hinted his desire to return to the Emirates someday despite doing well at his current club, he said: ‘For my future, I’ve decided to focus on how I play now and today. That’s why I’m trying to concentrate on the now.
‘As of today, I do not intend to change in the summer. But what happens in the future depends on my performance.
‘What if Chelsea or Arsenal come knocking? Well, at the moment I’m trying to give everything to Werder.’
