Why Arsenal’s hope on Aubameyang might be disappointed

Arsenal legend, Nigel Winterburn has predicted that the hope of the Gunners fans on striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to deliver plenty of this season might be disappointed.

He stated that the Gabon international’s chances of scoring 15 league goals this season are slim.

Aubameyang, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund on a fee of about £57million saw the back of the net 10 times in 13 league games.

With much expectation on the striker, he has so far had a slow start netting only a goal in four games. This might have informed the prediction of the club’s icon.

Aubameyang has started all of the four games for Arsenal this term.

Winterburn expressed disappointment in the way Aubameyang has started the season for Arsenal and he hints fans to expect same at the end of the day.

He said his expectation was to see the former Borussia Dortmund striker hit the ground running this season but that has not been seen.

The legend blamed missed chances for the reason why the striker has underperformed despite the numerous opportunities available to him.

He stated that the Gabon international might not be able to meet up with the competition from inform Sergio Aguero or Kane.

Having scored for his countryside, Aubameyang will be hoping to return back to scoring form as Arsenal face Newcastle on Saturday.
